Inspired by Chris McVeigh's awesome Brick Sketches, I attempted my own LEGO portrait of Abraham Lincoln. Mine's pretty crummy, so I'd actually love to see what a real master of the medium could do with this subject.
I beg to differ, Craig: I think you should stick to real people. I'll bet most people would recognize that as Lincoln even without the painting next to it. (And those who don't probably just don't know who Lincoln is.)
I think I could have come up with Lincoln without the portrait as a prompt. It's a pretty good job. I zoomed in and realized that your legos are very different from the ones I had as a child, or have bought for my child for that matter.
Oh,you know, we always had just the basic set. Just the bricks, and some bases.Maybe some bricks with wheels too. Those black angled ones are new to me. I confess, I haven't paid much attention to the new sets. I could never build anything as creative as this.
Bro, do you even Lego? :-P

ReplyDeleteNot at all shabby, Craig! (And a helluva lot better than I, or most people I know, could do.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, all. Maybe I should stick to non-real people. ;-)

I happen to like the "Muppet makeover" of Lincoln. I think you could make a full series of these Craig Froehle!
ReplyDeleteThat's good. I knew exactly who it was. Now you need to try someone like Martin Van Buren
ReplyDeleteLooks like Bert of Bert and Ernie fame.
