I don't recall seeing a movie with such a huge disparity between the critics' ratings and viewers' reviews.

I don't recall seeing a movie with such a huge disparity between the critics' ratings and viewers' reviews. So who's right? Is BvS a hit or a miss?

  1. So far, every one of my friends that has seen it loved it.

  2. Casting - great
    acting - very good
    story - bit flat, disjointed
    monster - silly
    script - meh.

Put me midway between tomatometer and audience score.

  3. It was OK... There was a lot of bloat (some of which stabbed at my longstanding annoyances with the genre) and overwrought religious themes (as in MoS).

Ultimately exceeded expectations, but those were fairly low. Begrudgingly give it 4 of 5 stars... but I might downgrade it to 3 if I think about it too much.

  4. There's no reason it can't be both. I thought the last Hunger Games was pretty bad. Lots of others are raving about it.

I'm trying not to find out too much about BvS. I will, no doubt, watch it streaming. I do feel like sending Ben Affleck a condolence tweet.

  5. Bvs was a miss

We don't need him to make justice league a michael Bay film

Also the way they were introduced was meh

Script for me had no good background plot or story

No reason for lex to hate on superman so much!!

And the monster was just.... -_-

  6. Terminator Genisys had similar disparity, but I think it was great for fans of the series.

  7. I'm personally not a fan of Affleck -- nothing he's done has impressed me since his supporting role in Good Will Hunting, but that role basically seemed like Affleck just playing himself.

Edit: I really enjoyed Argo, which he starred in and also directed. So, I dunno...he's an enigma.

  8. I wish the script had been better, and I don't care much for the final "big bad" action sequence, finding it sort of generic. Still, I like the movie well enough. I'd hoped to love it.

I do like "Batfleck" a lot. I wish his lines had been better.

The greatest effect of seeing this, for me, is that I (now) very much want to see a full-on Batman movie with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

  9. I agree on Affleck, Craig Froehle, although I also liked Argo.

  12. Yea, this whole "the movie sucked" and "it was great" confusion is one of a kind to me. Can't wait to see it myself. I'm pretty sure it will be good. I'm not that picky anyways.

  13. I didn't enjoy it but I understand DC/WB's reasons for making it the way they did.

  14. I didn't see it but from some of the reviews from friends and family it seems this movie was more of just a vehicle to spawn other movies in the future. It was a Phantom Menace.

  15. I liked it. Saw it in XD 3D. So that helped.
