I'm not a Disney superfan. I was mildly entertained by Frozen, and I didn't even see The Good Dinosaur. That said, ZOOTOPIA was flat-out amazing. The animation was without question the best I've ever seen. The visuals were incredibly lush and detailed with just the right balance of authenticity and cartoony-ness. The voice acting was stellar. The plot was engaging and the comic relief was laugh-out-loud funny. And here's the most impressive part: It's actually a morality play. The lesson that prejudice keeps people from achieving what they're truly capable of is front and center, but it never detracts from the story or the overall experience. Goodwin and Bateman are joined by a who's who of famous and talented actors, and don't be surprised to find yourself actually caring for these characters. This movie is great for any kid old enough to sit through a whole film, and adults are going to enjoy themselves just as much, if not more. RECOMMENDED. Now go see it.

Nice! Could have gone either way based on the trailers. Glad there's substance and entertainment.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I might go.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I heard The Good Dinosaur had very impressive scenery and backgrounds, but the everything else was uninteresting.
Everybody I know seems to be on about this, some of the people in following have changed their profile pictures to the characters in it. The cinemas have those character board things up, I spend thursday having a few people making what I guess are references to this film to me (I was dressed as a fox) and I still have no idea what its about :3
ReplyDeleteJames Ray Why, um, were you dressed as a fox?
ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle world book day, fantastic Mr fox :-)
ReplyDeleteAh! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle DONT AGE BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL AGE AND DO THAT... YOU CANT SEE ANYTHING BEHIND OR THE SIDES OR BELOW OR ABOVE OF YOU AND YOU SPEND THE DAY BEING CALLED "CUTE" BY GIRLS AND A "TEDDY BEAR" BY BOYS 0_0
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, back to zootopia :-D
ReplyDeleteThe last thing we watched was 'Brave' which I guess had its points, but was seriously over-saturated and ultimately annoying. Zero interest in 'Frozen.' So I've been resistant. But I'll be checking this out at some point!
ReplyDeleteShakira as Gazelle! Gazelle has got the moves. OK, so I have a thing for Shakira.
ReplyDeleteDavid Archer Big Hero 6 was also a thoroughly enjoyable movie for all ages. I didn't care for Brave myself.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched a Disney animation in decades. I saw "The Lion King" for the first time last night, a middle school production that starred a young friend.
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed that the music was all in 4/4. That's an insult to a fine continent.
Eric Mintz tryst me man, a school production is nothing at all like the real thing... it's like judging a band based on a kid singing one of their songs on YouTube, and I mean the bad ones :3
ReplyDeleteReading your thoughts on it, it seems like it might not be for me.
ReplyDeletePatrik Hanson So you're one of those 5% contrarians who are dead inside? ;-) http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/zootopia/
ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle - That seems to be the case.
