I started reading "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" to my 8-yo son tonight (he could read it himself, but this way we all get to experience it together). It's definitely different reading it in play form -- the dialog format doesn't lend itself to oratorical reading nearly as easily as a traditional novel does. But, so far, it's pretty delightful.

  1. As in those books, the forces of light (kindness, empathy, inclusion) are arrayed against the forces of darkness (fear, rage and an authoritarian will to power) that are threatening to rise again after years of peace — a dynamic, many readers can appreciate, with particular resonance today.

I can't imagine what they could possibly be alluding to....
