Thank you, Lego, for letting me simply tell you online which parts were missing from the boy's Christmas present and sending them to me,...
What worries me is that it looks like there's less middle ground. I'm not a big fan of just amping up the extremes. When talking about popcorn movies, I think reviews from critics are less valuable. And I agree with the line about target audience vs critic demographic.
ReplyDeleteI personally love that Wonder Woman got made, and that it's a success. But I don't think it's THAT amazing. It was important, and valuable, and meaningful in a social sense and especially for DC universe. And while pretty darn good, that score seems quite inflated.
FTA "When you take the 140 Rotten Tomatoes critics, you’re talking about a lot of men, a lot of white guys, a lot of people over 40. A 17-year-old girl is making a decision about what she wants to see based on that aggregate decision? I don’t think it actually mirrors their own taste."
ReplyDeleteAnd this wasn't a problem when they relied solely on critics like Siskel and Ebert? Seems to me that if that were actually your concern, you'd be doing more to elevate women in the film industry, both in the films themselves and in supporting roles, like criticism.
