When we let politics trump science, people are needlessly put in harm's way. http://arstechnica.com/science/2017/01/self-censoring-fears...
Damn it, all this uprise in solar energy is going to make the sun run out of energy..
ReplyDeleteRight in time for the grand solar minimum.
ReplyDelete50,000 is a good start. Elon Musk originally projected that 2 billion batteries and associated wind/solar would be enough to replace all of the world's energy usage. So this project in Oz gets us 0.0025% of the way there.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a true renewable such as geothermal would be the future. Trading one non renewable in fossil fuels for another non renewable in tech that depends on very rare precious non renewable metals such as tellurium, Cobalt and or lithium that has to be strip mined of all things is a band aid.
ReplyDeleteBill Iguess The main problem with GT is the upfront costs, which can be truly astronomical and a private landowner is hard-pressed to generate significant electricity from a yard-sized installation. But it should definitely be a bigger part of our energy plan than it is now.
ReplyDeleteSalton Sea large scale!!!
ReplyDeleteHopefully breakthroughs in all energy providers will continue. Looks like from the projections of demand growth we are gonna need energy from all current forms and much needed expansion from emerging tech just to keep up.
ReplyDeleteI need to get in on this beta
