I like the fact that LEGO is starting to think about getting more into dynamic sculptures and interesting mechanical builds (beyond vehicles). Thoughts?

  1. Not sure about that, developments like this undermines what LEGO stands for more and more. I bet LEGO fanatics will tear these efforts up in pieces. Trying stuff and not being blind where the world is heading always pays out, never forget your basis (and in that case, your trusting customers) though.

  2. I saw this earlier on an indegogo mailing. It's a cute idea. They are selling this to adults who are timid about being "creative", apparently.

I see so many people of all ages doing all sorts of interesting things with LEGO, so, it's not as if this one thing is going to take over.

  3. I kind of agree with David. More and more Lego is diverging from... well... Lego.
All these factory molded smooth curves and such. I can remember being a kid and working on something for hours trying to get the appearance of curves and angles and being super satisfied when I finally figured it out, but now the parts are premade and barely requires any thought.
My niece got into Lego last year and so I bought her a bunch of sets she could play with and it never even dawned on her she could make things that weren't in the instructions until she bought for me a tiny set with a twin prop helicopter model. She gave it to me and I made a bird and she near lost her damn mind.

  4. Ded Jezter I like the sets where you can make three things out of the same set.
obviously, one can make more than that, but if kids are new to LEGO that's a great way to introduce the idea that one can make whatever the hell one wants.
