  1. I'm pretty sure these don't integrate numbers for any of the Asian martial arts serials, which have been incrementally racking up billions over decades in adjusted dollars. But that's so much less sexy and not invented here, heh.

  2. No Terminator?

Shava Nerad is correct. This is US-centric. There are countless top grossing movie franchises elsewhere

  3. Bollywood. Less familiar with the figures, bet they are there.

  4. June 2013 data, box-office only.  No mention of the following:

    - Hunger Games
    - The Winter Soldier, Avengers 2, etc.
    - Guardians of the Galaxy
    - Avengers
    - Hobbit parts 2-3

Some of these have had some big box-office hits in the last 2 years.

  5. Are the dollar amounts adjusted for inflation? Is this just box office in America?

  6. Alex Feldstein Terminator is in there.

An adjustment for current dollar value would be better. I think The Godfather would look far more impressive than "just" the 1.9 billion it made....

  7. Paul Snedden With inflation adjustment, we'd see "Birth of a Nation" on that list.

  8. Steve S As a one-off film, it wouldn't qualify for this list of series. That's why Avatar isn't on that list, despite it making a crap-ton of $.

  9. The text at the top of the image says worldwide box office, adjusted for inflation.
