John Kasich is out, thank the fates

John Kasich is out, thank the fates
He couldn't secure delegates
I admit with chagrin:
I take some joy in
The GOP's desperate straits

  2. I do think it would have been fun to watch him stay in it, then the other vanquished candidates direct their delegates to him in order to start a floor fight.

  5. Seventeen heard an electoral call
Their fortunes did rise, and many did fall
One by one, they have toppled
    Now the GOP's quite gobstoppled
And what's left is really no choice at all

  6. William Wells Don't care if you're holding your nose or cheering when you vote for Clinton, just so long as you vote for her against Trump.

  7. I won't be. Trump is a buffoon. Hillary is the very death of democracy. I won't reward someone who cheats the system with my vote, ever.

lol...silly hyperbole is silly is what puts us at risk of getting a President Trump.

  9. It's not silly at all. The facts show that Hillary is likely to appoint pro-corporate supreme court justices, the same kind that have given us Citizens United, the same kind that selected Bush over Gore, etc. These are the justices that are going to decide issues dealing with gerrymandering, corporate speech, internet regulation, corporate media mergers, and whether or not bribing public officials is legal. (Don't laugh, go read http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-supreme-court-mcdonnell-20160427-story.html )

With the kind of constitutional decisions that a corporate court appointed by Hillary could make, we may never get an honest election again. That isn't hyperbole. That is the effect of corporations understanding that the outcome of elections, even at the highest level, is simply a matter of throwing enough money at it. Corporations understand that their bets can be hedged, just like a financial derivative, by bribing both sides of the election. With Hillary and the DNC demonstrating that money can influence a party's primaries, there is now a working proof of concept that the presidential election can be bought.

I don't think this is silly at all. I think it's the literal death of our democracy. Only by making sure that corporate candidates (Trump/Clinton/Kasich/Cruz) lose, will we be able to convince corporations that such outright purchasing of the Presidency is infeasible.

Or, if this doesn't matter to you, go ahead and vote for one of the candidates who've been bought and paid for with corporate cash. You can certainly be sure that candidate won't be influenced by tens of millions of dollars in "speaking fees", right?

    Yeah, right....

  10. William Wells You seem to think that anyone cares what you think and is going to bother to try to convince you or beg you to do the right thing. You could not be more wrong.

The moment you said you'd sooner have Trump in office than Clinton, I wrote you off permanently. You are too low to even deserve my anger.

  11. And you are too blind to see what is right in front of your face.

You are a thoughtless Democrat, Steve S . You don't pay any attention to what your candidate actually supports, or what she has voted for in the past. You ignore the fact that she's been bought off by the same corporations that are determined to destroy the middle class. You just want to cheer for someone who identifies herself as your hero.

Unfortunately, the world isn't that simple. Hillary is not your hero. She is busy trying to pick your pocket while smiling sweetly and promising to help. Meanwhile, she is cackling all the way to her Cayman Island bank, laughing at the fact that you are clueless enough to support her.

What part of her past do you support? Are you such a huge fan of wars that you need a president who has supported every single conflict that we've had during her time? Did you need a president who will tell you that you can't have the things your tax dollars pay for? Or maybe you just want a woman in the Oval Office for a change.

I'd like a female president too, I just require that she be honest as well as a woman. Apparently, ethics aren't anything that you are a fan of. What a terrible shame.
