Someone needs to write a short story about how Santa's "elves" are actually children who were awake when Santa visited their homes and, rather than trust them not to tell anyone they saw him, were enslaved at his secret lair to build his toys.

  1. Netflix did that. It's called The OA.

  2. Hah! If this story is intended to encourage kids to go to sleep, it's not going to work. ;-)

  4. More seriously, I am thinking about the St Nicolas legend as a possible origin, knowing Santa Klaus is, in fact, St Nicolas.
Here is the French "complainte" (a long, tragic and sad song). It turns around a silly kids, a cannibal butcher, salt meat and a resurrection. Note that St Nicolas is performing better than Jesus: the kids have been killed, cut in small pieces, salted, put in a jar and kept for 7 years...
In the song, St Nicolas is the protector of pupils and students

  6. I just told mine that Santa used to have a green coat, but as he killed so many kids that saw him delivering presents at Christmas it turned red and he is always trying to wake kids up to make sure it stays red. I never hear a peep from my wee one after 8pm on Christmas Eve until about ten on Christmas morning.

  7. Mine spend Christmas Eve at mom's house and I get them at noon Christmas Day. 🙂

  8. My parents put strings of bells all across the top of the staircase so there was no way we could get down to where the goodies were without them knowing. I never had a staircase, so I just trained mine to come wake me in the morning and told them about the time my sister ruined the surprise of Christmas and never had any problems out of them.
