Is it OK if I only show my kids the first Matrix film and deny the sequels' very existence?

  1. Offer them the choice to watch the sequels by having them pick the blue cookie or the red cookie.

  2. Of course. Let them seek out the sequels as adults. No guilt for you that way. ;)

  3. Depends, how many Indiana Jones movies are there?

  4. That's what we've done so far. I mean, I wish I could edit about 30 minutes of the final to wrap up the only movie that should have been made, but I'm not that talented.

  5. Yes. I sat down to watch the series a few weeks ago for the first time in several years. Thoroughly enjoyed the first one; bailed halfway through the second.

  6. Have you considered making it a double feature, the first Matrix and Dark City? They came out within a year of each other, and they have very similar premises.

  7. Wait a second... They made a sequal to the matrix?

  8. Kent Seaton worse. They made a sequel with this weird intermediate film for the intermission.

  9. Stuckin D'South so like the Highlander series... Part 1 and part 2.

  10. No, there were no sequels made, Kent Seaton...don't be ridiculous.

  11. Kent Seaton never bothered with remembering the differences between them.

  12. There is only one Highlander movie right ?

  13. If you don't at least talk about them, you may be letting your kids down in terms of innoculating them against conmen, cult leaders, psychics, or others who prey on gullibility.

  14. Ugh. I didn't even like the first one.

  15. Yes. When they're older it could be a teachable moment.

  16. Short answer, Craig Froehle ... abso-damn-lutely.

  17. Most people seem to believe that there are more than three Star Wars films.

    They are mistaken.

There was only one Star Trek movie, by the way. It was called The Wrath of Khan.

  18. James Karaganis that just happens to be the only Star Trek movie I've ever seen.

  19. If they learn about the sequels just say "hey, you'll enjoy this five dollars more. Believe me!"

  20. It may be the first sign of dementia, but I just rewatched the second one and enjoyed it.

  21. Highlander: There Should Have Been Only One.

  22. My kids think there are three Indiana Jones films

  23. Grant Ballard-Tremeer I have a friend who swears there are some great philosophies in the other 2 "movies". I'm not convinced.

  24. Jurassic Park was a great movie too. I'm glad they chose to leave that one alone.

  25. I didn't notice the philosophy, Stuckin D'South, but the fight scene with 100s of Smiths, for instance, is weirdly beautiful in my view, and it doesn't take itself seriously either.
