When we let politics trump science, people are needlessly put in harm's way. http://arstechnica.com/science/2017/01/self-censoring-fears...
I wonder why we were so much better at caring for the earth in the 90's compared to now. Renewable energy is incredibly clever. I do not understand why some people think it is a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteSadly those with vested interests in non-renewable energy sources, systems, and infrastructure are beginning to see quite clearly how their ROI is about to be capped, perhaps even driven massively negative.
ReplyDeletePatrik Hanson Back in the 90s, renewable energy technology was still just getting off the ground, and had not been developed enough to lower the cost for wide adoption, thus it wasnt much of a threat to the existing business structure for the energy industry. Today, we've come a long way in bringing that cost down and making renewable energy a more viable alternative (And often more economical in the long run). As Greg A. Woods pointed out, this is causing the old guard of non-renewable energy to see their bottom line threatened, and so they try to smear the competition, even at the expense of the environment.
ReplyDeletePatrik Hanson Renewable energy competes with a $30+ trillion Fossil Carbon Energy Industrial Complex that is willing to spend as much as necessary to get paid to produce and oxidize the last unit of coal, gas and oil on the planet.
