Fabulous.

Fabulous.

Of course, a few more months of Trump as President and the GOP in control of everything else and we'll have to scratch off that bit on the real thing that goes:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

  1. Stephen Miller is the loudest internal proponent for the current "take the kids as hostages" strategy. Not coincidentally, he argued last year that those lines on the Statue of Liberty should be ignored.

  8. Zack N Bricks I'm not mad at you for your request -- sometimes I get a serious case of infuriation fatigue from hearing about politics -- but I want to explain the best way I can why your request is unreasonable.

The American "politics" you would prefer not to see is one of the major causes of pain, suffering, and misery in the world right now. People are literally dying, losing their children, being incarcerated, and suffering other incredible harms as a result of these policies. Pretending it isn't happening is a luxury -- dare I say a privilege -- that millions of people simply don't have. And a request to "keep politics out of it" here is equivalent to saying that little plastic bricks are so much more important than actual human beings -- and, of course, they're not -- that the plight of these people should be hidden in order to not remind us that "very bad things" are happening at an increasing rate. Yes, it's uncomfortable to be reminded of this. No, it doesn't feel at all good. But until we figure out how to make that go away, do we really deserve the respite, the sanctuary in a toy, that is being requested? How can we ethically justify ignoring the pain of multitudes of real people just to focus a bit more squarely on the momentary novelty of little plastic bricks? I can't, personally, so there will continue to be the occasional reminder here that, while I will continue to love LEGO, it isn't even close to being among the most important things.

Thank you for the reply, it was very respectful.

I hope no one found my request offensive and I think I need to explain a few things.

I see the reports (NOT from CNN,FOX,Washington Post or other big guys) of a lot of bad things around this world, it is getting really bad. It has been said that if you cuurently live in the USA (one of the greatest privleges in world history in my opinion) and make at least $32,000 a year, you are the top 1% of the world population and I am greatful I am in that percentage and I hope all my fellow Americans by their mid-twenties is part of it.

And the grand reason I come to LEGO Comunities is to see the good and creativity in humanity. Interacting with LEGO is an act of zen to a lot of us. Yes, we know there is still a lot of bad stuff going on. but we like to go on a mini-vacation so we can clear our minds and not be full of depression.

I am not shutting myself away from the world and I love volentering and giving to charities to make the world not as bad as yesterday.

And finally to everyone that trashes either Republicans or Democrats, there is only so much they can do (seriously the world is that bad) and heros are on both sides.

This may not clear everything up and maybe we may need to respectfully disagree on some things (like Iron Man and Captain America do) but thank for your time and bravery to reply to me,

    Zack

  11. Zack N Bricks Awesome. As long as you're not "both sides"-ing it -- there is a HUGE difference between the two parties' approaches -- we're cool. Thanks.
