ReplyDeleteHawk Wing Not one forest has been cleared in order to build a wind farm. There is far more than enough clear and already-cleared land -- e.g., farms and grazing pastures and desert areas -- to support wind farms that not a single tree needs to be cut down to build all the wind farms we need. If you're just ignorant, go read something before you post. If you're trolling, let me know so I can block you.
ReplyDeleteNot trolling and it's my home area. I'm telling you they clear cut the mountain tops for them. You deny it if you want. I know what we saw. Maybe in some areas they have pasture land, etc. Here they didn't.

ReplyDeleteGoogle pinnacle wind farm. The picture of the mountain ridge is where they were put. All the timber went to the local paper mill.

ReplyDeleteHawk Wing Nope, the mountain top wasn't cleared of trees. Watch the video here -- http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Green-Energy-Has-Residents-Seeing-Red-139138269.html -- and you'll clearly see that the turbines are surrounded by trees (albeit trees that are shorter than the 250-foot turbines, which is typical for mountaintops). Some trees may have been cut down, but it's not like massive acres are being cleared expressly for building wind farms. In fact, this is the first one I've heard of that was built in a forested area.

ReplyDeletepaul beard There are lots of places on land that wind and solar farms make total sense, such as in deserts (both), on agricultural land (wind), and off the shore (wind). Blocking the sun from large parts of the ocean isn't a good idea...stuff lives there.

ReplyDeleteHow do you know that the graphs have anything to do with the planet getting warmer? Why not conclude that a planet that is warming for other reasons is causing an increase in CO2 emissions? After all, ice core records show that the planet warmed first and then later CO2 levels rose. Plus we are still coming out of the last ice age. The warming we are having is minor and is within the norm of planetary cycles.
