There's no way King Crabs are progressive enough to be doing this for political purposes; if they were, they'd renounce the "King" title and work towards a more egalitarian crab society.

King Crabs are migrating towards previously inhospitable zones of the Antarctic continental shelf as temperatures there rise due to the warming climate. I guess deniers and conspiracy theorists will just claim that these crabs are paid stooges of the liberal elite global warming alarmists,eh?-----> 'sarcasm'

When we let politics trump science, people are needlessly put in harm's way. http://arstechnica.com/science/2017/01/self-censoring-fears...
That's a natural process - unfortunately, it leads to the annihilation of unprepared and unevolved creatures
ReplyDeleteClimate change is increasing temperatures across our planet...
ReplyDeleteOne wouldn't expect a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to make such an uninformed statement.
Walter Reade Your extensive training in climate science suggests otherwise?
ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle One doesn't need to have extensive training in climate science in order to call out a statement that doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteLet's substitute the definition for climate change into the statement and see if it still makes sense to you: "Change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns is increasing temperatures across our planet."
The statement is equivalent to saying, "Snowfall makes it colder outside."
Perhaps you can reach out to someone you know who does have a background in climate science and ask them in climate change is increasing the global mean temperature, or, rather, if it is the other way around.
BTW, if you're truly interested in my research, you can find it in published in Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, Physics of Fluids, Journal of Fluid Mechanics, and Aerosol Science and Technology.
Walter Reade, your attempt at a pedantic refutation of his statement is weak sauce. You know as well as I do that "climate change" in this context means "anthropogenic climate change manifesting in higher global temperatures." But nice try.
ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle The author is a female, which tells me you're not paying attention. But, you're definition makes the statement even more silly:
ReplyDelete"Anthropogenic climate change manifesting in higher global temperatures is increasing temperatures across our planet."
Climate has changed already since the Earth has emerged, previously inhospitable zones become habitable and vice versa. Sadly, every medal has a downside. That is so often been shown and explained, but ‘believers’ understand things seemingly differently. With all those doomsday scenarios we must be careful not to throw away the baby with the bathwater.
ReplyDeleteWalter Reade Intellectual superiority from a guy who doesn't know "you're" from "your"? Hilarious! *blocked*
