I survived taekwondo sparring tonight without serious injury, either caused or received, which I consider solid progress.

And I say "survived" because I'm way, way out of my skull depth in these sparring classes. Tonight, for example, I was the oldest person there, the shortest (except for one female black belt), the lowest-ranked belt (and one of only two non-black belts), the least flexible (by a wide margin), the least experienced in sparring, and most probably in the worst shape. So, to escape without an ambulance ride, a limp, or a need for even an icepack or aspirin is a total win in my book.
