My first car was a Fiat 850 convertible (paid $400 for it). The engine was literally ~20 inches away from my head with only the rear engine cover to contain the noise. It was glorious. At 25mph, you felt like you were going 100.
Steve S Like many great sports cars of the 60s, it has just the essentials: wheels, an engine, some seats, and a few other parts to hold all those essentials to each other.

ReplyDeleteCars are art
ReplyDeleteI still crave for Shelby Cobra replica. That is a piece of ART.
ReplyDelete:-)
Does not have to be fabulously expensive but the looks gets your heart a rush.
I wouldn't want to ride in that...The engine looks to be inside the passenger compartment!
ReplyDeletePhil Rounds There's a rear window and firewall separating the engine compartment from the cockpit.
ReplyDeleteStill, can you imagine the sound level with the engine this close to the back of your head?

ReplyDeleteMy second car was a Triumph Spitfire, mk2. It had an 1147cc engine and weighed less than 2k pounds. Same as the Fiat...60mph felt like Mach 1.
ReplyDeleteFuck, it's beautiful! Better looking than most modern day sports cars
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda partial to this...

I like 4 motor streetcars. That 8 wheel drive gets you off the line fast.
ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle I googled up some other photos and this thing is tiny. It's not a car, it's bulky clothing with wheels.

ReplyDeleteMy Mom had an MG Midget. It was fun to drive, but wanted to go backwards on wet pavement, and working on it was absolutely miserable.
