Steve S, why? If the industry must go away, and it must, why provide what looks like countering arguments to support opposing the transition? This isn't science, it's propaganda...know the difference. ;)
#globalwarming is the longest most talked about event by the world's greatest minds.
World leaders has been talking about the issue of global warming, climate change and extreme weather for decades but no conclusive solutions was ever conceived, simply because they have been talking about anything and everything but the TRUE cause of global warming, climate change and extreme weather.
We must first understand hydrology (the full cycle of life of water) to understand the effects of El Niño that creates “global warming”. Water evaporates to form clouds which comes down as rain.
Rain water flows from high land down to low lands and into river. This non mineral (salt) fresh water will eventually reach the sea and ocean (salt water) but in the recent hundred years, hydroelectric dams began forming all around the world.
There are at least thousands and thousands of them built around the world http://enipedia.tudelft.nl/maps/ as a form of CLEAN ENERGY but building these dams not only change landscapes and prevent the much needed CLEAN WATER from flowing into rivers and oceans.
Fresh water is needed to regulate salt water of the ocean because it’s supposed to regulate the temperature and the salinity of ocean water. This is now the work of nature to melt icebergs (other form of fresh water) to regulate the temperature and salinity of ocean water.
That melting icebergs is just one of the many consequences of building hydroelectric dams besides dry arid lands in some parts of the world (due to, the course of water have been manually altered), differences of temperature in various locations and extreme weather.
There are thousands of pools of water appearing around the world and these pool of water increase the world’s temperature. This is another factor of global warming and extreme weather.
Good luck to those who are still trying to explain global warming via deforestation (which world governments can solve via paying 1% of the world’s poorest population “minimal salary”, solving issue of poverty by planting trees and build irrigations but I suppose that was NEVER in the agenda) and carbon emissions (which actually only causes “acid rain” not global warming nor extreme weather.
Good luck to humanity if you’re one of those who still beLIEve otherwise. Don’t beLIEve what I’ve just said about the effects of hydroelectric dams on global warming and extreme weather, but go do your own research on the “cycle of life of water” and “how water affects ocean temperatures and current”.
By the way, the last bit of rising ocean level, remember the bit about thousands of hydroelectric dams around the world that’s dispensing the much needed water to generate electricity?
It might be nice if it showed all those petro jobs that would go away.
ReplyDeleteChristopher Boyer Pay attention: I never said we should keep them. I said we need an honest count that includes the losses.

ReplyDeleteCraig Froehle See above: honesty, not propaganda.
ReplyDeleteGreat ambitions begin with being REALISTIC.
