Check it out. You can see what town your town's climate will be most like in the future based on current estimates of climate change.

For example, by 2100, Chicago winters will be much like today's winters in Alabama.

  1. I'm not sure about the point of that visualization.  For most of us, this single factoid, taken in isolation, sounds pretty good.

    Metro Vancouver goes right to the Washington State border, so Bellingham, WA (directly on the other side of that border from me) is a reasonable approximation of Metro Vancouver:

    By 2100, winters in Bellingham, WA (currently 33 nights below freezing)...
    ...will be like winters now in Gilroy, CA (with 6 nights below freezing)

  2. I'm way less worried about my winters than my summers. Switching to an Augusta, Georgia style winter might not be so bad. Augusta summers would cause me to move to Quebec.
